We are proud to announce that TLC is part of the United Way program and is able to receive designations through their Donor Choice Program to help us continue this program. We believe this very unique senior program enhances the quality of life for seniors as they provide wonderful companionship to our older cats. If not for this match with seniors and their particular needs (lap cats, declawed cats, cats good around their grandchildren etc....) some of our harder to place, older cats would never get a chance at new life. We know that some seniors may be on a limited income, so we provide all the essentials to make the decision in adopting a pet less a financial worry.
Before a cat is considered adoptable through our policies and procedures, it must be vet checked to ensure it is in good health. All our cats must be given the necessary shots (rabies and distemper), spayed or neutered, combo tested (for feline disease), and treated for mites and fleas. We always appreciate a donation instead by the senior or family member but it is not required! Plus, we give the senior a six-month supply of cat food which has so generously been donated by Ralston-Purina for this purpose, a month supply of litter, and a litter pan & scooper if they need to get started with their new pet.
Think of a senior you know who could benefit with a pet companion!
